Main scientific achievements:

  • Internationally recognized as a specialist in the area of social demography and economic sociology N. Rimashevskaya has inititiated and participated in a unique for Russia longitude survey of conditions, level and quality of life of the population, proceeding the last third of the XX century - "The Taganrog project" and continued in XXI is carried out. The survey described forms, methods and mechanisms of transformation of the Russian society at periods of "post-Khruschev's thaw", "Brezhnev's stagnation", "Gorbachev reorganization", "Yeltsin destructions". Dr. Rimashevskaya offered essentially new methodologies and techniques of studying and penetration into an essence of the public phenomena, which resulted in practical application and have paramount importance in planning social and economic policy. Among them: a) rotational method of removal of information on the income and consumption of the families, opened possibilities of increasing efficiency in obtaining social information; b) the differentiated balance of the income and population consumption as a way of an agreement occurring at macro - and micro-level of processes; c) system of economic-mathematical models for the description of an assessment and forecasting of the main characteristics of a standard of living; d) methodology of measuring individual health potential for identification of factors of its formation and definition of ways of positive development; e) theoretical bases and practical estimates of quality human potential in a context of development of demographic processes, e) methodology of creation of typology of consumers and consumer behavior as the instrument of marketing; ) long-term forecasts of the population.
  • Developed a system of knowledge describing social sphere and social policy in it’s practical implication
  • All scientific research was conducted in a inter-discipline framework including economics, demography and sociology
  • Created a scientific school in economic and social studies with 75 PH.D. and candidates in science from Russia, former soviet states and other countries
  • Initiated gender studies in Russia
