Vyacheslav V. Lokosov

Vyacheslav V. Lokosov was born in Moscow on February 12, 1958.
1981 - graduated from Moscow State University with major in philosophy;
1989 – completed a post-graduate course at the Institute of Sociology of the USSR Academy of Sciences and defended a Ph.D. thesis on “National exeptionality as an object of study”;
2002 – defended a Doctoral thesis on “Transformation of societal systems (on the experience of reforms in modern Russia”) and gained a doctoral degree in sociological sciences.
From 1976 Vyacheslav V.Lokosov has been engaged in academic research – first at the Institute for Case Studies, USSR Academy of Sciences (later named Institute of Sociology);
1992-2012 - worked at the Institute of Socio-Political Studies, RAS;
on March 27, 2012 Professor Lokosov was appointed Director of ISESP RAS.
Since 2017 - Editor in chief of the journal "Population".

Vyacheslav V. Lokosov is a recognized specialist in the sphere of methodological and methodical issues of measuring socio-political and socio-economic processes, the theory of societal systems transformation. He conducted a conceptual analysis of the changes in the social organization of modern societies; initiated elaboration of the method for limit critical indicators of the Russian society development, which is fundamental for constructing the scale of those indicators. He participated in preparation of documents of the federal level.

Vyacheslav V. Lokosov is a Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Social Sciences, member of the European Sociological Association, deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine “Science. Culture. Society”. For his contribution in science he was awarded the silver medal of Pitirim Sorokin.
